Nifty trick and mysterious problem

Did something pretty nifty this evening, and thought I'd share it with
everyone.

In a nutshell, I:

	1)  Connected my mostly-unused null modem adaptor to my GS;
	2) Connected my also-mostly-unused HP serial interface cable to
	    the other end of my null modem adaptor;
	3) Connected my HP48 calculator to the other end of the serial
	    interface cable;
	4) Used ProTerm to transfer a ProDOS text file to my HP.

Whoopee! Now I can keep the HP Goodies disks on ProDOS instead if having to
go through my PC Transporter. But, of course, you all have probably been
doing this for ages.

Ugh. Suddenly I'm having another problem. Help, please?

I moved recently to an area that sports a free 19200 baud net connection.
When I tried connecting to it with ProTerm, however, it jumped down to 2400
baud. After much fruitless experimentation, I finally figured out that I
had to install my hardware (a LineLink 144e) as if it were a Null Modem
Driver and enter the "ATDT" command manually (it had previously been
installed as a Hayes Smartmodem 2400). Now, however, when I try to enter
the Control Panel, the computer freezes. I can free it up with control-reset
without ending the modem session, but I still can't get to the Panel.
Any ideas what the problem is?
