Andrew's whip stung All as this command was shouted:

 AG| G'day !

G'day to you!

AG| The cpu definitely seems to be of the old Apple II (maybe II+)
AG| type. The cpu on the motherboard is a 6502 [...]
AG| Where I need trouble shooting help is that when I turn on the
AG| computer, "APPLE ][" appears on the top of the screen, the drives
AG| spin, but then nothing else happens except that the drives spin.

If it says APPLE ][ then it _is_ an Apple ][. Which explains why when
you try to boot DOS or ProDOS it isn't working -- THIRTEEN SECTOR DISKS
are expected, not the 16-sectors we're used to (as of the ][+). If you
can locate any disks which you have to run BOOT13 from the DOS 3.3
System disk (of any other Apple //) to access, try them in the drive.

Best guess I can come up with. Put the Z-80 card in slot 7, by the way.
