Re: Help in identifying cards

I'll take a stab at some of these...

It sounds like the computer is a II+. If it is, it'll have "Apple ][ plus" on
the lid, as opposed to "Apple ][".

The card in slot 0 is a 16k RAM expansion that brings the total memory to 64
kb and allowes you to run Integer BASIC. This was originally called a 16k
language card. It _must_ be in slot 0 to run, and it's required to run any
ProDOS programs. Speaking of ProDOS, I believe the last version that would
run on a stock II+ was v1.9. Later versions _may_ run if the CPU has a 65c02,
Zip, or Speed Demon accelerator.

The II+ was the first II with an autostart ROM, so it's designed to be turned
on with a bootable disk in the drive. If there's no disk available the drives
will spin until you hit control-reset, at which point it'll drop into BASIC.
However, since there's no DOS installed you can't load or save files. Try
turning on the computer with a DOS 3.3 system master (or other disk) in the
drive.

Yep, the drive controller card goes in Slot 6.

The Z-80 card (for running CP/M) I think can go in any slot. I think I parked
mine in slot 5. If you're not running CP/M you might just set it aside for
now.

The other card is a mystery to me.

The printer card goes in slot 1.

And there you have it! Enough to get you in trouble anyway.

Have fun!
