Thanks for that (see, even we "experts" learn things on c.s.a2!)  ;-)

I see that there is a $2 per hour surcharge for using Sprintnet.

Considering that my alternatives (I'm in New Zealand) are an
international toll call (minimum of US$1 a minute) or an X.25
connection (minimum of US$5 per hour, plus high data charges), this is
a significant improvement!

In New Zealand, we have to pay by volume for E-Mail, FTP, Telnet, etc.
(but not News - this is bulk charged to each site).

Some of the money goes towards maintaining and upgrading the NZ to US
link, the rest is a usage charge by the local Internet providers.  On
my site, I'm paying about US$3 per megabyte, which is insignificant
compared to X.25 or telephone charges, especially if I'm only reading
messages.

Looks like it might be time to get a GEnie account (again).

There is, of course, the question of getting CoPilot or GEnie Master to
work over a connection of this type, which they probably won't do as
"standard".
