Was I dreaming, or did I just see a screenshot of a new commercial
version of Lode Runner? I *think* the latest Inside Mac Games has the
scoop, including an *excellent* color screen shot...let me double
check.

Yup, I was right. In the article "IMG: New Games at CES," there's a
nice screenshot from "Lode Runner: The Legend Returns."

The accompanying text says:

"Lode Runner, the classic from 1982, is back, and believe me, it is
better than ever. The new version, entitled 'Lode Runner: The Legend
Returns,' contains ten different underground worlds and over 150 new
levels. As you are pursued through each of the 150 mazes, you must
snag all the treasure, dodge the evil Monks, and starting with just
your laser-pistol, bore through floors and walls to find the extra
tools you need to make it to safety. The new version also has some
spectacular high-resolution graphics, including fluid animation,
intriguing play fields, and bold, colorful characters. To top it all
off, you'll be able to play with a friend over a network."


Sounds like fun! Lode Runner Classic (heh!), along with Tetris, was
one of the mainstays of my freshman year dorm in college...
