I guess I'm not "nearly everyone." :-) I started out on the net
(saa33413@uxa.cso.uiuc.edu, long ago) and only got a GEnie account
when I returned home for the summer (since I didn't want to ring up
huge long-distance bills.  Now I have a Linux box that uses
Fight-O-Net to plug into the Internet ($5/month for all the news and
mail you can take, along with Fido traffic) and a GS for dialing into
GEnie.
