Re: GS Crashing: copying files and Apple hi-speed SCSI (?)

Hello again,

   I thought I had solved this problem, but I was mistaken. I continued to
do some testing, and this is what it's come down to:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Problem: -GS Finder crashing while writing files to the HD
~~~~~~~
Hardware:  -2 Mb Q-RAM
~~~~~~~~   -Apple II Hi-Speed SCSI, slot 7
           -48 Mb Seagate HD on SCSI, w/ termination resistor packs present
           -no other cards installed

Diags: -Q-RAM diagnostics passed (several times)
~~~~~      -IIgs self-test passed (several times)
Software:  -bare-bones System 6.0.1 boot disk
~~~~~~~~
SOLUTIONS: -#1: if I take out the Q-RAM, and put a 3 Mb GS RAM Plus in its
~~~~~~~~~       place, everything works fine!
           -#2: or, turning off DMA on the HS SCSI works too...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
   It looks to me that either the Q-RAM or the Apple Hi-Speed SCSI has some
kind of design defect (or maybe only my cards?) that don't allow the two to
coexist w/DMA enabled.
   Any suggestions or comments?  I'm not sure what to do from here.
Dan
