First, I think IMPORTANT to get issue 57 of SoftDisk - if you ever use a
desktop image! I used BackDrop (from SoftDisk) a lot, and now cannot live
without it. :) OK, there is a bug in System Software that will leave 32K
behinds (holding the image) EVERYTIME the resolution is switched! And there
is now a bug fix from SoftDisk. Well, It does seem to improve my system
somehow... not too sure. But I do trust SoftDisk.
I am very satisfied SoftDisk subscriber and think that it is the best
investment for your Apple II... if you are serious about Apple II, get it.
(OK, SoftDisk does not pay me anything, OK?)
Now to II Alive... thanks to all those who help, especially a friend who keep
arguing with me that his PowerMac is better than the PC that I am going to
buy, I finally get my two issues of II Alive while I am still alive. :)
Quality has did a very poor job on this: after two international phone calls
which cost me $$$, and a few calls by my Internet friends, and a few stupid
excuses Quality gave, and a few months of waiting, I finally get the Jan/Feb
and Mar/Apr issues of II Alives. So most if not all of the "news" are no
longer news. I must say that I am very angry with Quality and don't think I
would like to do any business with it again.
To all those Internet friends who help me, Thanks! To all those guys who still
did not receive the issues (12 Australians, 1 German and 2 Singaporeans so
far I know), either ask someone in US for help and get yourself two outdated
copies, or just simply forget about them - afterall, the issues are not really
THAT great (they are good afterall), and not worth spending your $$$ like what
I have done (feel very stupid now).
The best advice I can gave is to get GS+ magazines and SoftDisk GS. They are
really really good. Unless Quality can give a good explaination to those of
us not in US, I would say stay away from II Alive.
