Well first of all it does indeed exist. I have one on hand but I didn't upgrade
a //e to get it. I had a IIgs logic board and power supply and a //e keyboard
on hand and I called up Shreve and got the case I needed, a //e one with the
IIgs upgrade bottom part on it.
I'm pretty sure the upgrade vanished off the Apple price lists ages ago so
I don't think it would do any good to pester any dealers about it. They would
not know what you were talking about anyway.
I wouldn't advise getting a //e with the idea of upgrading it anyway. The used
hardware sellers would want as much for the kit as a secondhand IIgs would cost
assuming they had any on hand when you decided to get it. You lose use of the
//e on top of that. Finally, you'd have to make do with a ROM 01 since ROM 3's
aren't used in upgrades.
