There is no reason I can think of that the IBM would not accept the ASCII
files unless (and I think this may be what you're describing) you are
expecting the IBM to read the Apple disk directly. You have to get the
files onto an IBM disk. MSDOS machines are not as flexible as Apple
machines, they aren't capable of reading/writing to disks in any other
format.
