Help: Can't use ProTerm at 9600.

I'm using a LineLink 14.4e modem with my Apple ][e, Super Serial Card
(set jumpered at 9600), and the proterm settings with Hayes Smartmodem 2400.
When I set the dial commands to 9600, I still only get 2400. Very annoying.
How do I remedy this?
