     If you can physically connect the 520 to your computer (damn parallel
interface) a DeskJet 500 driver should work just fine.  

     Note that I say "should," and here's why:  A friend recently got a
520 for her 286 and used it with Wordperfect 6.0 for DOS.  The DeskJet
500 drivers in WP screwed up royal (on the 520), but the 550 drivers
seemed okay.  I will attribute this to WP Corp's own faltering code and
not Hewlett Packard.  Now, on the flip side, our local dealer had the
"DeskJet 500 Demo Cartridge" running just fine in their 520.

     So, the DeskJet 500 drivers might -or- might not work.
