It was never a mystery to me why there was never a IIgs card, and the logic
is pretty easy to follow. It goes kinda like this: why run Appleworks GS on
a machine which can just as easily run Clarisworks? Or Graphicwriter when you
could be running Pagemaker on the same machine? Or Spectrum when you could
be using Microphone?
This is the reason why the current II emulator on the Mac only does a 64K ][+.
It was only designed to run programs that are available on a II and nothing
else, i.e. 10+ year old game programs. No one using a Mac is hankering to use
Appleworks on an emulator to do their work.
I sure would not hold my breath until Apple comes out with a way to run IIgs
or even II stuff on a Mac, with hardware or with software emulation. But that's
not to say that it won't or should not happen.
