I like TimeOut Telecomm. Especially if I know there will be a large number
of messages to read, I can open a desktop file, and TO Telecomm will load
everything into the desktop file, creating a giant scrollback. With 4MB of
memory, you're more likely to bump into the maxlines limit of AppleWorks
3.0 (~ 16K lines) before you exhaust the memory.

I didn't do much file transfer with TO Telecomm, so I couldn't comment on
that. It only has XMODEM, so if that won't do for you, you might want to
have another comm program for file transfer.

Of course, the big convenience of this program is that it works inside
AppleWorks.
