Boot problems on my GS!
Hi. I'm having some weird, VERY sporadic boot problems on my GS w/sys 601:
if I don't get the timing EXACTLY right as far as when I turn the computer on
after the hard drive powers up, does its whining thing, etc., the system
crashes during the boot-up process. What's really weird is that if I
turn off the power to both HD and GS, then repeat the process just about
exactly, everything's fine!
SPECS, for what it's worth: ROM 01 GS, w/ 1.25M RAM, Apple HS SCSI card
(DMA on) controlling a Quantum ProDrive 40 (scsi 6). Terminated.
Now, as a naive, new user of the GS and GS/OS, I installed the "all
icons" file from grind.isca.uiowa.edu and noticed recently that that's
40k of icons maybe I _don't_ need. Is this maybe a "not enough memory"
problem?
Thanks for your help.
TY
