To be compatible with all software the disk ][ controller card
should be in slot 6. It doesn't generally matter if you're just
running DOS 3.3 or ProDOS or even using the drive under System 6,
but many self-booting programs expect the drive to be in slot 6.
(I've always wondered why people couldn't write their programs to
work with a drive in any slot--there were code examples on how
to do this in the original Apple ][+ reference manual for goodness
sake! :-)
