I meant specifically the filetype (as reported, say, in the Icon Info

Yes, I made the Finder load $B6 files (permanent inits) from
FinderExtras because it can be useful (realizing at the time that it
would cause crashes+confusion when people put inappropriate stuff in
FinderExtras).

Yes, GS/OS skips right over Finder Extensions in System.Setup (it only
looks for PIFs and TIFs there).
