Apple Serial vs Super Serial
Can someone tell me the major differences between the original
"Apple Serial Interface Card" and the later "Apple Super Serial Card"?
I'd like to eventually hook a modem up to my Apple //e for use as a terminal,
but wondering if this rather ancient 'Apple Serial' card I have here would do
the trick. The manual states it can be set from 110 to 19200 baud by changing
the dip-switches, though don't know how well it would work handling a 2400
or 9600 baud modem (what about an ImageWriter II printer for that matter?).
The card is copyrighted 1978 as well as both socketed PROMs. One
is marked 'P8-01' the other has a part number '341-0017-00'. Can I actually
use it with a modem or printer, or should I just search for an SSC? (Again,
knowing the differences between these two cards would help a great deal).
