What does //c upgrade do?

IR>Well I finally hauled my Apple//c out of the closet and hooked
IR>up and found out I have one of those very old //c's.
IR>(Peek 64447 returns "255")
IR>The FAQ mentions an upgrade is available but I'm wondering what
IR>exactly the upgrade does.

The UniDisk 3.5 upgrade is free. Just buy an original Apple UniDisk 3.5
and bring it into an authorized Apple dealer. They will either replace
the motherboard, or replace an IC and do a bit of soldering. If your
MMU chip is soldered to the motherboard then I suggest you ask the
serviceman to PLEASE replace the motherboard with one in which the MMU
is socketed.... this is the only way to expand it's RAM.
