Re: FinderExtras Folder

Timothy F Schmidt (tschmidt@magnus.acs.ohio-state.edu) screamed from comp.sys.apple2:
: I have a number of Finder Extensions (IR, QuickLaunch, Alias, etc).
: They're currently located in System.Setup. I was looking through
: my System folder the other day and found a FinderExtras directory,
: but it was empty. It must've been created when I installed 6.01.
: Anyway, what is supposed to go there? Should I move my Finder
: Extensions there?

As I understand it, FinderExtras are INITs (So they can be placed in either
folder) but when in the FinderExras folder, they are only loaded when the
Finder starts up - when you launch a program, they are unloaded(?) thereby
only taking up memory when needed. Putting them in the System.Setup folder
will keep them loaded all the time. However, doing so will also keep the
system from loading in the Extra everytime the Finder starts up (saving a
little time).
