DeskJet with IIGS?

I'm trying to get a DeskJet working with a IIGS, and have all kinds of 
questions, many not well formulated.  I got the printer with no docs, and 
no cables.  I've found a power cable that works, but have not been able 
to get the pinter to print yet.  Any help appreciated, especially answers to:

1)  How to the DIP switches need to be set to work alternatively with a 
IW2 (ie without having to reset the IIGS printer port each time)?

2)  I find two DIN-8 to DB-25 Apple cables....one with a printer icon on 
the DIN-8 end, and one with an apple icon on the DIN-8 end.  Which is the 
correct cable?

3)  Is the epson cartidge needed?  Other requirements?

All help appreciated.  I have both Seven Hills and Vitesse printer 
drivers for GS.OS, but do most of my work from AppleWorks4 and Quicken.  
I'd really like to get the printer working with these first!

Is there a FAQ on this somewhere?  If so, could someone send me a copy as 
I have trouble trying to telnet or gopher from here....only get access at 
night and seemingly cannot make connections at those times to other servers.
