Vitesse Salvation Bakkup problems

Vitesse Salvation Bakkup problems

G'day All,
I've been trying to use Salvation Bakkup to backup hard drive
partitions to a syquest cartridge partition as a file using
compression or non-compression. I'm able to backup the HD partitions
to the syquest partition OK, ie dialog box indicates that its
reading and packing the files, it writes the backup files OK and
writes the catalog file OK. I'm using System 6.01 on a ROM 1 IIGS with
an Apple HS SCSI card with a 240M HD, 44M syquest HD and 67M Rodime
HD drives daisy chained, ZipGSX 9MHz/32K and other sundry cards.
I've tried shift booting (so I assume its not an init/nda/etc
causing the problems), booting with System 5.04 and 6.00
and have the following problem.

However when I try to restore either all the files or some of them,
Bakkup appears to read ( but doesn't indicate that files are being
unpacked) the backed up files OK, but doesn't write them back and so
doesn't really restore them. All I get is the dialog box with the
filling thermometer, Bakkup stating files are being read but the
thermometer sticks half way and doesn't write the file out. I can
click on cancel so the computer isn't frozen. I have waited quite
awhile to see if the files are being unpacked, but nothing happens.

The funny (haha :-( ) thing is that if I backup to 3.5" disks
with either compression or no compression, and then try to restore
from them, it works perfectly!! When restoring, the dialog box
comes up, thermometer fills up, says that files are being
read & unpacked, and files are written out OK. In other words,
it works like its suppose to.

Yes, I've made sure that files have been selected when trying to restore
files.

So, is there anyone else out there that has been doing what I've tried
and either succeeded or failed???? Is this a dud program or am I the only
person having this trouble??

Please email me at scd@ausom.oz.au and I'll summarize replies and post
them if people would like.

I really need help as some of the files on one partition have
now become big problems (which Prosel16) can't fix and I've had to
delete) & the only backup I had was the Bakkup one.

Help please!!!

Regards,
Davo esq
