All MACs are Apples, but not all Apples are MACs. Clear as mud, right. Apple
][s are the family of computers (][, ][+, ][e, ][c, and ][GS) that made MACs
possible. Had the ][s failed, Apple would have failed and MACs would still be
a dream. Most ][s preceded the MAC line. Macs, PowerMacs and Performas are
all MACs, just different variations on the same theme.
>Is it a Mac II?
NO!!!
>Does it have different software, hardware, disc format, etc.?
Yes and no. Software is incompatible but data files can possibly make the
journey. Hardware compatibility is less certain. Floppy drives - not,
monitors - not, well not with modification, keyboards (maybe), mice (maybe),
SCSI peripherals (yes to harddrives, removables, MOs, flopticals, CDROMs and
things, no (maybe) to scanners), printers - yes. You get the picture. Case by
case on hardware. Disc format is, hmm. ][GSs mainly use ProDos, but I can use
HFS, MSDOS, and Apple DOS3.3, and probably others. MACs I think mainly use
HFS.
>And also, why does everyone write it "Apple ]["?
Because we want to. Not really. The logo design on the ][s was '][', at least
thats how I remember it. Of course on the ][GS the graphic is just 'IIGS', but
I like ][GS better.

No silly questions (hmm).
