Everybody! Stop right now and subscribe to SoftDisk G-S! Or ask them to
release the init you definitely needed for your GS: the fixROM Blaster!
Ever since I got my IIGS, I get all sorts of problems: this is not compatible
with that, or if the order of inits is wrong, GS just simple won't work
properly.
But now with FixROM Blaster! My GS suddenly becomes very very stable. I have
more system extensions than ever but my GS crashes *MUCH* lesser. This is
also the first time I can run the HyperCard IIGS without corrupting the screen
after sometimes.
So what does FixROM Blaster did? Simple, it fixed a bug in QuickDraw II. QD has
a small bug in every Apple IIGS: when it first startup, it requested and inits
1K of memory for its internal use. But the 1K might cross bank boundary - if
that happens, some program out there will going to have its 1K trashed!
Everytime QD is started, there is a 1/64 chances that the problem will occurred.
So that means each time you boot up, each time a desktop application you
started and each time the resolution is switched...
FixROM Blaster has solved the bug.
Thanks SoftDisk G-S! I now have a much better Apple IIGS.
