Re: This Old Apple IIgs

I must admit, AppleWorks GS v1.1 needs _a lot_ of work...any new info on the
v2.0 progress/release date?

Also, when using AppleWorks v4.02 (skip inits/TO apps and preload WP module)
and working for about 10 hours on a LONG (under 15 pages) paper, AW started
crashing after pressing a few keys...I tried shutting my GS off totally, and
booting straight into ProDOS 8 v2.0.3 (pressing 8 while booting Sys6.01, then
running AW v4.02 from ProSel 8) ...same thing. After a few hours of Star Trek,
it worked perfectly again (used v3.0 for a while). I have a ROM 01, 8Mhz/16k
ZipChip, and Vulcan 40Meg, and a Sonic Blaster (hi Joel!).

BTW- for the Sonic Blaster, do you have to change the slot to "Your Card"? How
'bout Slot 2? I have a Vulcan in Slot7 and a HS-DMA SCSI in Slot6, and the Zip
in Slot1.

BTW2- I don't have access to alt.bbs.metal, so could someone please answer the
following question via e-mail? I'm running Metal v1.09.04 and FV v4.02 on GSX
(not the BBS in the tagline) and it works perfectly with my ZipChip totally
off, but with it on (at ANY speed) it crashes at two spots, and only these two:
Logging on, it writes a log (I was able to disable that from the 2nd
maintenance 'C'onfigure command) and after logging of and updating the last 6
callers. What happens when logging off is that a high-pitched sound is heard
constantly coming from the speaker...sometimes I get my default blue background
back (ack!) too...I've tried returning all the dip switch settings to factory
defaults; no difference. BTW- The ZipChip performs FLAWLESSLY!!! Anyone w/o a
ZipChip is really missing out!!!!!! ^^^^^^^^^^^in other prgs
