Help with //gs power supply...
Well, I've now got some kind of problem with my //gs power supply. Just before
coming to school today, I tried to fire up my computer, and... nothing
happened! I popped the cover & checked for voltage @ the power connector
(still plugged in at this point), and got absolutely no voltage. Fortunately,
I still had my //e power supply (I originally got the //e upgrade, but got the
//gs PS when I got a GS case) so I could fire up my computer so I could bring
the UB bsq to school today :)
Anyway, I didn't have much time before heading out, but I opened it up and the
fuse is still intact. I'll spend more time diagnosing it tonight, but I was
hoping someone out there might have some idea what I should look for. For
whatever it's worth, it's a generic high-output GS switching power supply, and
includes a VR to adjust the +5. I don't know off hand who made it, but it has
a strip of yellow "break-away" tape on a corner of the lid (which I've managed
not to break :), and has a power rating label detailing the max amps. I don't
believe there's a company stated there, but I think it gave 2A for +5, and
possibly 60W total.
Any suggestions on how to diagnose & fix it will be appreciated, & I'll try
to furnish any additional info if needed.
