I agree with you 100% when new features are being added etc. But in
this case, it appears a major part of the program is broken (I don't
own it so I can't say for sure). If this is the case, then the fix
should be made available for a nominal cost, or even for free. 

One of the reasons I don't own this program is due to the reports of
problems with HS modems. If I had spent money on this I would
certainly expect a fix asap....wouldn't you?

If I bought a 2 slice toaster, and it only toasted 1 slice of bread, I
would return it for either 1) exchange for a fully working toaster, or
2) my money back if a working toaster was not available. I think the
same principle applies (or should apply) to software as well.
