unmoderated group comp.emulators.apple2
unmoderated group comp.emulators.cbm
unmoderated group comp.emulators.misc
Newsgroups line:
comp.emulators.announce Emulator news, FAQs, announcements (moderated).
comp.emulators.apple2 Emulators of Apple // systems.
comp.emulators.cbm Emulators of C-64, C-128, PET, and VIC-20 systems.
comp.emulators.misc Emulators of miscellaneous computer systems.
Votes must be received by 23:59:59 UTC, 12 May 1994.
This vote is being conducted by a neutral third party. For voting
questions only, contact the votetaker, Jay Maynard, at
jmaynard@admin5.hsc.uth.tmc.edu. For questions about the
proposed group, contact the proponent, Ron Dippold, at rdippold@qualcomm.com.
CHARTERS
comp.emulators.announce: This is a moderated group with announcements
about emulators, emulator ftp sites, new emulator images, and emulator
FAQs. Emulator discussion seems to have a fairly high noise level, so
this will be useful for important news and coordinating FAQs for newbies.
To be moderated by Ron Dippold <rdippold@qualcomm.com> at address
<emulators@qualcomm.com>, with a contact address of
<emulators-request@qualcomm.com>.
comp.emulators.apple2: Emulators of the entire Apple // family, such
as the Apple ][, ][+, //e, //c, and IIgs, on all platforms. For
discussion of specific Apple // software, you may wish to use
comp.sys.apple2 instead.
comp.emulators.cbm: Emulators of the entire Commodore C-64 family,
such as the C-16, C-64, C-128, PET, and VIC-20 on all platforms. For
discussion of specific C-64 software, you may wish to use
comp.sys.cbm instead.
comp.emulators.misc: Emulation of computer systems on another
platform. Emulators which are not covered elsewhere in the
comp.emulators hierarchy can be discussed here. Emulation of specific
hardware by other hardware in the same system (such as Sound Blaster
card emulation by the Gravis UltraSound card) generally belongs
elsewhere.
There are an amazingly large number of emulators out there of classic
and current computer systems, including several dozen for the IBM PC
alone. Unfortunately, the traffic is spread widely and haphazarardly
over much of Usenet, and many remain ignorant of the available
emulators. This is an attempt to centralize that knowledge in an
easily locatable hierarchy.
If this hierarchy pans out, I expect the creation of c.e.ibm-pc,
c.e.ms-windows, and c.e.mac won't be too far behind. For the moment,
I suspect Amiga users may wish to keep Emplant traffic on
comp.sys.amiga.emulators.
HOW TO VOTE
Erase everything above the top "-=-=-=-" line and erase everything
below the bottom "-=-=-=-" line. Do not erase anything between these
lines and do not change the group names.
Give your name on the line that asks for it. For each group, place a YES or
NO in the brackets next to it to vote for or against it. If you don't want
to vote on a particular group, just leave the space blank. Don't worry
about spacing of the columns or any quote characters (">") that your reply
inserts.
Then mail the ballot to: votes@admin5.hsc.uth.tmc.edu
Just Replying to this message should work, but check the "To:" line.
