You can use the RAM disk with slot 5 switched out because there's a native
mode driver to access it. ProDOS 8 has to use the firmware which is not there
with the port switched out. The patch is to move the superdrive card to
another slot - 6 would be the best candidate. Can't imagine anyone with a
superdrive needing to use 5.25 disks.
Remember the cool discussion a few months ago about how Apple supposedly
intentionally rooked users by not having the superdrive card firmware
support the RAM disk?
