Apple ][ help???

Hi there everyone.

I'm new to the world of the apple ][, having just been given one by a
friend.  I'm interested in setting it up as a dumb terminal to connect
to the University via modem.  I want to know any useful details,
including the card required to run a modem, and whether there is any
software for terminal emulation, and where I might get it (Always
something useful to know!).
