I was theperson who posted this (this time) and called the 800-SOS-APPL number
today. I got a diffeerent approach. When I first got across what I was
looking for they gave me the tech support number. The guy there told me RIGHT
AWAY that there are companies out there that do this. They gave me Sun
Remarketing and two others (can;t think of the names now). But he was quick to
send me elsewhere. Anyway, I pressed him for the answer 'Does Apple offer a
free upgrade'. He said he could not say and that the local dealer would have
to call and find out. So I called my dealer and he told me (in less then 5
seconds) that the offer is beyond the time period. I ied and said that I just
got off the phone with SOS-APPL and that they told me that you were to call for
an authorization. He changed his tone quick and put me on hold. he came back
twice and then the third asked for my number and he'd call me back. I checked
my machine and sure enough there was the message.

He told me that I either had to show proof of purchase on my modem or
demonstrate that I have a problem. This pissed me off because I have to haul
my //c in to show this guy an error that APple has already admitted exists. To
top it off I was trying to make a backup of my 5.25 of ProTERM and I killed the
original. I don't know what happened (its still write protected) but now there
are 5 errors on the disk. Since I got ProTERM I used the 3.5 9copied to the
HD) so for all I know this was there. But I think its BS that I have to go and
prove the error exists. So now I will be at my Apple dealer tommorrow. Hope
he lets me call LD on his lines. Maybe I'll waste some of his time/money. :)

Apple and its dealers are pathetic. They act like I am taking their money or
something. Thanks for listening!
