You're not going to believe this, Davo esq, but in the HP 500 owner's
manual (page D-7) it suggests that you use the Apple cable # 590-0331.
I suggest that you quote the number to your friendly (ugh) Apple dealer
who will tell you what cable that is ( ie SSC-> IW2 or Mac -> IW1 etc)
Then, go to your local Dick Smith Electronics store (lots of them in
Melbourne) and buy a replacement for 1/3 of Apple's price!
Sorry I didn't email, but lots of people have been asking this question
lately.
BTW If you have an Apple II with a Super Serial Card (SSC) you should use
the Apple Cable #590-0037
