You've been misinformed.

To do this would require a specially written operating system that was
able to deal with the hard drive being shared by another computer.  It
would probably work if the two computers were referring exclusively to
their own partitions, and never writing to the partitions used by the
other computer.  Otherwise, the directory structure would get corrupted
very quickly.

It would also work if you only used the drive from one computer at a
time (shutting down one computer and rebooting the other between accesses).

I thought that RamFasts don't support SCSI arbitration.  The HS SCSI
card supposedly does, but I've never tried it.
