Quick monitor question

I've been using my GS quite a lot lately, after a two-year hiatus (there was
a keyboard glitch that was incorrectly diagnosed as a faulty logic board by
some incompetent--or greedy--repair people).  I've been noticing that after
only a few hours of use, the top of my monitor becomes uncomfortably hot to
the touch.  It's been long enough since I used the computer regularly that
I can't remember how hot it used to get; I can't tell if this amount of heat
is normal.

I haven't noticed any screen problems of any kind, even after several hours,
but it makes me nervous to continue using the computer under such conditions.
Can anyone tell me if I have cause to worry?
