You have to boot GS/OS before you can use Appleshare. The reason is that part
of the support for Appletalk is in the system software, unlike with the
workstation card which has all code necessary in firmware. I found this out
when I tried to use my workstation card's file server logon software on a IIgs
after booting ProDOS 8. The ATINIT file is located in */SYSTEM/SYSTEM.SETUP
when you install Appleshare on a IIgs.
There's no point to putting a workstation card in a IIgs because the same thing
is already built in.
