There are many files that are over 800K, even when shrunk. Most recent
example is the escher stack on cco.caltech but even multi-file segments from the
binaries exceed this. I think scii works on a UNIX box but, in theory, as I'm not
allowed to have my own executables on this thing, a Mac version would easily make
my d/l less complicated.

There is one or more free standing programs, and the venerable GNO, that will do
this.
