I am currently looking into getting a backup device. I have contemplated
removable storage devices (flopticals, sysquest, bernouli) and tape
drives. The removable disk devices are definitely nice if you can afford
them. However, since I don't need a second 'hard drive' the low cost of
tape cartridges has me leaning toward the SCSI tape drive instead. Sure,
the removable disks can be used to access archived material on demand but
I can't justify the cost of the media. So, even though the cost of the
devices are comparable, the cost of the media favors buying a tape drive
(in my case at least).

My 2 cents.
