Help: ProSel 8 (Mr. Fixit & Beach Comber)
I have a ROM 01 GS, RamFAST C, Syquest 44MB cartridge in two partitions.
I want to use ProSel 8 (Beach Comber) to defragment my hard disk. Midway
through I get a "Bad index block" error. Before defragmenting, I ran the
volume through Mr. Fixit to verify a good volume (no errors found).
However, I believe the problem is in Mr. Fixit's 'Repair Main Volume'
module. It reports the volume size as 0 blocks, and therefore does
nothing with it. (This worked fine on my other partition.) The partition
that is reported as 0 blocks is actually a full 32 Meg. Using Block
Warden, I found a set of bytes on my smaller partition that corresponds to
the volume size. On the 32M partition, those same bytes are correctly
marked as FF FF (= 32M).
So, how can I get Mr. Fixit to recognize my volume as 32M in size,
allowing it to perform the Main Volume repair? Is there another set of
bytes I can set to manually change the volume size? When inspecting my
smaller partition, I only found one occurence of the bytes which match
the volume size.
Thanks in advance,
Scott Peterson
