Too many .wav & .bnk files?

Concerning a recent posting about the need to keep all relevant .wav and
.bnk files in the same directory as the .seq files which use them, and
the unwelcome duplication that this causes when sequences are organised
by category, one solution might be to use a French Cdev/Init system which
I found on cco.caltech in the 'addon's directory, under the title
'symlink.shk'. This is v0.97, whereas the one on grind appears to be
v0.48.

This seems to offer all the features that Apple's EasyMount init doesn't,
namely, being able to alias _data_ files, not just directories and
executables. It _is_ french, and the instructions, comments, titles and
suchlike are also in french, but it's pretty easy to figure out. All the
text is in resource-forks, so it can be edited by GeneSys, and the
wording changed. I've done this, and I'll upload 'symlink.english' to
grind in a day or so.

This program seems extremely reliable and useful, but there is one small
thing to be warned about - don't try to use aliases on the desktop if the
program concerned has a special icon. The next time you reboot, the fancy
icon will disappear, to be replaced by a boring 'standard' icon. I
haven't found any other quirks or unpleasantness.
