PostScript is not "in" the driver.  The driver translates what the
application draws into PostScript code, which the printer executes.
The code the driver generates is "portable" -- it works on either
level of PostScript.

How fonts work is documented in Apple IIgs Technical Note #67, or more
likely in user manuals somewhere.

I don't see why anyone should bother to spend any money at all on the
Apple II when it's so much easier to demand free access by ftp and then
ask tons of questions that the books might answer.

(Translation:  YES, get the books.  Don't waste people's time asking
them to look up things in books you don't want to buy.)
