Serial Help

Hi!  I was recently given a Super Serial Card and I am trying to use it to 
work with with my enhanced Apple ][e.  I flipped the Modem/Printer chip so 
the arrow points towards modem, and I am able to send information to my 
modem (a Zoom 14.4K) but I am unable to receive anything.  Can anyone 
suggest anything?  I don't have a manual so I am not sure about the DIP 
switches or the pin out (I am using a IBM PC-type serial connector.)  
Thanks! By the way, I have tried this with both Talk is Cheap and Zoom 
Networker with the same result.
