The best program for viewing .GIFs on the IIGS is Prizm v1.0, hands down. The
'other' program is SuperConvert v3.0x...I believe v2.x was Public Domain, but
v3.0x is Commercial.

SuperConvert v3.0x:
Pluses: Wide range of convertable picture types; saves .GIFs & Icons & Finder
       backdrops.
Minuses:SLOW! Converts to Maximal 256 colors (about 6 hours!), no pictures
bigger than 400x300 or something small like that...

Prizm v1.0
Pluses: FAST! Converts .GIFs, Amiga IFFs, Raw Files, and some other types to
Greyscale (very fast), 16 colors, 256 colors, and 3200 colors! Size
of picture limited by availabe RAM, True Color viewing (only 16 pixels
wide, though 32 are possible by switching).
Minuses:Cannot save as .GIFs, crashes when quitting w/The Manger v1.0.

Another program available is SHRView v3.5 (v3.6c is available). This just
displays all pictures in the current directory, even .GIFs (but only in
GreyScale and the first 320 pixels wide).

Also, JPEGview v4.0 has been released/ported by Ralph Searl. This can
uncompress a JPEG to a .GIF or Targa, and compress .GIFs into JPEGS. A
drawback/plus is that it only operates from within a shell (such as ORCA/M or
GNO/ME!) and converts any JPEG to a blue-palette .GIF (greyscale's ok). A LOT
BETTER THAN v4.0- Good job, Ralph!

Hope this helps...BTW- There are also DL Viewers, FLI viewers, and soon
QuickTime viewers and ???? (censored...)

Feel free to e-mail me any questions.

Oh, there's also a program for the IIe called IIGIF which converts to High-res
B/W & Color and Double High-Res B/W & Color, which is Freeware/PD?

Call Big Red Computer Club (what was the tel#?) and get Prizm...only $39 or so.
