Please elaborate.  You mean the crummy little built-in screen editor for 
Applesoft/DOS/ProDOS?  If so...
a. Press ESC to get your cursor to "move without entering character"
(If you're in 80-columns, the cursor will become a '+')
b.  Use arrow keys OR I-J-K-M keys to move the cursor
c.  Press ESC to return to normal (in 80-col. the cursor goes back to normal)
d.  Use '->' to trace over the text you want to keep.

It's cumbersome, but it works.  If you're working in Applesoft, get thee a copy
of GPLE.  My copy has both ProDOS and 3.3 versions on the same disk, thanks to 
my favorite ProDOS program..."DOS.SYSTEM"
