Yes, the format of MIDIsynth is a tad braindead in terms of both size and CPU
time, but it worked at the time :)

Yes; instrument banks will be "synthesizers" where you map an instrument to
one or more of the 127 program numbers for that synthesizer.  In this way, it
can easily be tweeked to emulate any of the popular synths (I'll ship General
MIDI, Roland MT-32, and Roland D-5 'synthesizers' with it, since I have
program maps for those.  I intend to make it easy to add and swap more :)
