 Is there any way to have it set up like caltech so that new uploads are
available immediately? It is such a pain to dig through a pile of
directories looking for the newer files. It must tie up the site for a
much longer period of time as well with people who like to try out the
new stuff digging around looking for it.

It is certainly much easier to get the new files with one mget and
suitable wildcard characters :)
