This is true.

Yes, but if your local Apple dealer doesn't have it, you can get it with
ftp from ftp.apple.com, buy it from ByteWorks or Resource Central, or send
GS+ six disk (if you are a subscriber).

AWGS works as good with 6.0.1 as with 5.0 for me. If you tried it with the
system on the disk, the problem may be the missing fonts, so AWGS uses
an ugly scaled Shaston font.
But if you tried to copy the system parts from the disk to your 5.0 system
folder on your hard disk, you will get all sorts of trouble, because they
are not compatible.
