I count the replies internally in the main program so I just had it
write the
number to a file (pkt.dat) in the qwk directory. I passed the number to
make.cnf and stored it at the end of your string.

Not a bad idea. I was going to put that in pkt.dat but decided not to
for the
current release.
After sitting down and looking through your routine for a while (the
mysterious
p8/zero page deal) it was pretty easy to figure things out. Imagine,
comments
in a source file :).
