Msg#:36337 *>APPLE/APPLE*
12/27/93 15:47:18 (Read 0 Times)
From: JEFF BRIELMAIER
  To: TOM LARSON
Subj: REPLY TO MSG# 23871 (MAKE.CNF)
TL>I've thought about having it save previous replies similar to the way
TL>that OLX does it (asks you :). Except I'd just keep the .MSG file
TL>around
instead of making the user unpack it. I'll look at your code TL>and see
how you
were thinking of implementing it in there. The easiest TL>way to handle
multiple packets would be to have a seperate packet config TL>file with
the
current replies, date&time, etc.
I was planning to support the MSG file by modifing the RepPrsnl routine
(around
line #335). At about line 348 is where I write the 'replies' line/count
out to
the CNF file. It writes the text and the two NUL (see lines 1195-1198).
 [I
never got around to figuring out how to count the replies :)]
As for the Date/time, the routine you have (IIQWKU1) mimics the
Date/Time check
that you had in IIQWK.S.S, so if you where to add seperate config files
for
each BBS all you need to do is modify IIQWK.S.S to pass the date/time
string
read from the config file rather than IIQWK.VAR as it does now.
The two parameters that are passed to Make.CNF are: 1) pathname to the
QWK
directory and 2) Date/Time of last QWK processed (from IIQWK.VAR).
The version I wrote for v0.98c passed the QWK and REP directories to the
ML
code since you stored the CNF in the REP directory for that version. In

v1.09b, you store the CNF in the QWK dir so I made a couple of minor
mods to
the source code to copy the QWK pathname to both the QWK and REP buffers

(lines 184-193 and 264-298). The "REP" buffer is used to point to the
CNF
file. Some changes will need to be made if the MSG file is going to be
processed by Make.CNF (passing the REP pathanme to the routine).
TL>ProDOS8 only supports pathnames to 64 characters. The 41 limit was
for
TL>the directory you stuck 2qwk in (the a: filespec thing) since I used
TL>some
(ok, alot) of the filespec space for other junk.
Ahh, I knew there was a reason why you limited the length of the
pathname.
BTW, ProDOS8 supports an internal prefix of 64 chars PLUS a relative
prefix of
another 64 chars (i.e. PREFIX=/hd1/2qwk!.... pathname past to P8 via ML
commands= QWK/TRP.CNF;  Converts to a pathname of /HD!/2QWK!/QWK and a f
of TRP.CNF).
