Help with Shaston and red dots

I have a rather harmless (I hope) but annoying problem with DeskTop-based
programs on my GS.  Occasionally (about half tht time), when text is displayed
in Shaston 8, be they in the Finder or File Dialogs, or System dialogs, a
little
red dot appears just below lowercase x's and below and to the right of 
capital M's.  It hasn't always done this, just as of late.  Is there anything
that could maybe be causing it?
