VOC pleasant surprise

I have a VOC in my spare IIgs which I connect to a 27 inch TV for a
monitor. If I use the built in video output, the colors are so blurred that
I just set the display to monochrome and do without color. I had the TV
connected to the output from the VOC the other day and switched the display
to color. The display looked great! No blurring or anything. 80 column text
was readable as well. Is the VOC's output that much better than the built in
video's?
